MoMA Exclusive: These sunglasses are the result of our collaboration with LA eyewear brand Akila and the estate of Henri Matisse, an artist who has work in MoMA’s collection. This special-edition version of Akila’s chunky Apollo frames features a pattern from 1953’s The Sheaf (La Gerbe) which depicts colorful leaf-like shapes. Each pair is handmade from eco-conscious, biodegradable acetate Matisse’s signature, the Akila logo and the MoMA logo are all engraved onto the temples of this style that was made just for us. Each pair comes with a matching microfiber lens cloth and puff pouch. The Henri Matisse La Gerbe Akila Sunglasses have a frame that measures 1.93h x 5.79”w with temples that measure 6.25”l.
